AhlulBayt News Agency: More than 20 students and faculty at Stanford University have been participating in a hunger strike since May 12, drawing attention to the severe risk of famine in Gaza caused by Israel’s 70-day blockade of humanitarian aid.
During the strike, students presented a list of demands, including urging Stanford to divest from companies such as Chevron and Lockheed Martin, which they claim are linked to Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
The students have vowed to continue their strike until the university administration acknowledges and responds to their demands.
One participant, who requested anonymity due to fears of personal retaliation, stated, “We’re here to push our university to stop funding the genocide in Palestine and to end its investments that help Israel kill and starve thousands of Palestinians, upholding a blockade threatening the lives of 14,000 children.”
Stanford students have joined hunger strikes taking place at universities across the United States, showing solidarity with Palestinians enduring what they describe as a US-backed genocide in Gaza.
